Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered on Sunday outside a court in South Korea's capital Seoul to show support for the ousted president Yoon Suk-Yeol.
When the judge announced that Yoon would remain in custody, supporters stormed the building and smashed windows and doors. A large number of police were deployed and dozens of people were arrested.
In a statement after the attack, Yoon said he was "deeply shocked and saddened" by the demonstrators' actions.
The 64-year-old former prosecutor Yoon is being investigated, along with several other top politicians and officials, for attempting to carry out a coup.
