Hotel and Restaurant Workers' Union's chairperson Malin Ackholt and vice chairperson Pim van Dorpel are leaving their posts.
According to a press release, it is a joint decision.
"I can state that the right conditions no longer exist for us to operate in our roles. We take responsibility and make way for others who can take the union forward", says Malin Ackholt.
Pim van Dorpel was recently considered for the post of new chairperson for LO but pulled out at the last minute. Only a few days before he was to be elected at the congress, information emerged that he had moved in white power circles during his upper secondary school years.
He explained that as a 14-year-old, he sought out the skinhead culture, but did not confess to Nazism. He called himself a "patriot" or "Sweden friend", he explained.
Malin Ackholt has also previously been considered for a position within LO's leadership, when she was nominated and available for election, as reported by Hotel Review earlier this year. In the end, she did not get such a role.
The new chairperson will instead be Eva-Lotta Ramberg, while Daniel Jernström has been appointed vice chairperson.
TT has sought out Malin Ackholt and Pim van Dorpel, both of whom decline to comment, according to the union's press secretary.
They've taken a well-deserved break, says Björn Fridén.
