A lifeless woman was found by chance in Landskrona on Tuesday night. The woman is suspected to have been murdered, and a young person has been taken in for questioning about the murder and human trafficking, reports Helsingborgs Dagblad.
The age and gender of the person being questioned are not disclosed in the documents that the newspaper has access to.
It was just after midnight when a police patrol found the woman outdoors during a routine patrol. The police officers began resuscitation and then received assistance from ambulance personnel – but the woman's life could not be saved. After an hour and a half, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There has been severe violence against the body. We do not believe that she had been lying there for a longer period. It is an area with a lot of activity where people work, says Kenth Pehrsson, lead investigator for serious crimes in Helsingborg, to TT.
The police cordoned off an area for technical investigation on Tuesday morning. They have also searched for finds with a police patrol and a drone.
We are now continuing with witness interviews and waiting for answers from technical analyses. People are also continuing to call in with tips, says Pehrsson.
The woman, who according to the police was between 25 and 35 years old, has not yet been identified. According to Pehrsson, the woman lacked identification when she was found.
We found nothing at the crime scene that could confirm her identity, but it is something we are working hard on right now, says Pehrsson.
