The hunters first tried to scare the wolf away, but it continued to approach.
When the wolf was a few meters from the hunting dog, one of the hunters shot the wolf, which died on the spot, says Daniel Mallwitz, wildlife manager at the county administrative board to the newspaper.
The incident occurred on Saturday, December 7, but was not noticed until later.
According to the hunting regulations, the hunter had the right to shoot the wolf when it attacked a domestic animal.
He has acted entirely in accordance with the law and the matter is closed for his part and for our part, says Daniel Mallwitz.
The county administrative board will now identify which wolf individual was shot, through the family tree that exists for the entire Scandinavian wolf population.
