A Danish man in his 40s has been requested to be extradited to Sweden. The man, who was arrested in the United Arab Emirates, is suspected of having been involved in a number of serious frauds, reports Ekot at Sveriges Radio.
He has been in hiding until now, when I received information via Interpol at the beginning of this week that he had been arrested, says prosecutor Sara Bjerefeldt to Ekot.
The man is suspected of being involved in extensive VAT frauds with mobile phones.
The scheme was to sell phones between different companies and then sell them abroad, thereby getting back VAT money that was never paid. The Tax Authority estimates that the frauds have cost the state billions of kronor.
