The Jamaican reggae star Vybz Kartel, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder in 2014, has been released from prison, reports The Guardian.
In March earlier this year, the news came that the murder conviction was overturned by a British court, and on Wednesday, the Jamaican Court of Appeal decided that he would not be retried.
The artist, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was sentenced to life imprisonment along with three other men for the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams, in Jamaica's longest trial of all time. The crime allegedly took place in Palmer's home in 2011, but the victim's body was never found.
