The matter concerns the parks Nordlicht 1 and 2, located off the German North Sea coast. The expected construction start is 2026 and the parks are expected to be in full operation in 2028. The production is then expected to yield around 6 terawatt-hours per year.
"Germany is one of Europe's fastest-growing markets for renewable energy, with a demand that will increase by 40 percent until 2030. The offshore wind power cluster Nordlicht is an important milestone on the road to enabling fossil freedom," says business area manager Helene Biström in a comment.
The decision on Nordlicht 2 is conditional on Vattenfall first obtaining the necessary permits.
