Inflation in the USA fell to 2.4 per cent in September according to new figures from the USA's labour market department. This compared to 2.5 per cent the previous month.
The monthly figure was higher than market expectations, which were at 2.3 per cent according to a compilation made by Bloomberg.
Excluding food and energy prices, inflation stood at 3.3 per cent compared to 3.2 per cent.
Here, expectations were at 3.2 per cent.
