The USA and China are drawing up plans for a climate meeting, with the goal of reducing emissions of methane and other gases, in addition to carbon dioxide, says the US climate envoy John Podesta.
The announcement comes after talks with his Chinese counterpart Liu Zhenmin and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
Podesta describes the discussions as excellent, even though the parties partially disagree. In addition to methane, the emissions of freon – which is harmful to the ozone layer – and the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide will also be discussed at the meeting.
