The violent fire in the 400-year-old building broke out in the morning of April 16. It is located in the Slotsholmen area in central Copenhagen and shocked Copenhageners gathered and followed the fire's progress, as the characteristic spire featuring intertwined dragon tails collapsed to the ground.
"All relevant investigative measures have been taken without being able to clarify the cause of the fire. However, there is nothing to suggest that the fire started as a result of a criminal act," says Vice Police Inspector Brian Belling in a press release.
Approximately half of the building was destroyed. The reconstruction work has begun and is expected to last for several years.
