Around 400 attack drones were stored in the premises, according to the Ukrainian defense forces on the messaging app Telegram on Wednesday evening.

"The destruction of the drone base will significantly reduce the possibility for Russian occupiers to terrorize civilians in Ukrainian cities and villages", they add.

Videos on social media, said to have been filmed in the region, show a large fireball in the night sky and an explosion of flaming embers.

According to local authorities, a fire started in "a warehouse". No one has been killed, writes the regional leadership center on Telegram.

Russia has not yet commented on the reports.
