"In the Solomianskyj area, the upper floors of a high-rise building that was hit by an enemy drone are on fire. The rescue service is on site," announces Kyiv's mayor Vitalij Klitjko on the messaging app Telegram.
"Apartments on the 17th, 18th, 19th floors are damaged."
There are currently no reports of any injuries.
A reporter from the AFP news agency saw what appeared to be a drone crashing into the building.
The area is located in the western parts of Kyiv.
Ukrainian cities, including the capital, have been subjected to drone and rocket attacks since Russia launched the large-scale war in Ukraine in February 2022.
Ukraine has long been asking for more air defense from its allies.
