In total, 188 people, 94 of them children, have thus died as a result of starvation and malnutrition, writes the health authority in the Hamas-controlled strip on Telegram.
The figures have not been able to be verified by an independent party since Israel does not allow international journalists to report from Gaza.
The famine in Gaza is described by aid organizations as entirely created by humans. In the spring, Israel introduced a nearly three-month-long total blockade of emergency aid to Gaza, and even afterwards, far from enough food and supplies have been allowed in.
At the same time, the deadly violence continues at the places where a limited amount of emergency aid is being distributed by the criticized Israeli-American organization Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
Target in hunt for food
Hundreds of people have been killed, according to testimonies after indiscriminate shooting into crowds.
The Palestinian Red Crescent states that one of those killed while trying to get food in recent days is their volunteer.
"Two days ago, he went in search of food in the so-called 'American-Israeli aid area' west of Rafah. There, he and other starving civilians became targets for Israeli forces. He never came back," the organization writes on X.
"A death trap"
In pictures from the news agency AP, dead bodies are seen being carried away from crowds at various distribution sites.
It's like yesterday, and the day before that, says Gaza resident Ayman Ruqab to the news agency, after reaching a distribution site at the so-called Netzarim corridor in central Gaza.
It's a death trap.
Israel and GHF have, however, consistently claimed that they have only fired warning shots at people who posed a threat.
According to the health authority in Gaza, 87 dead and 644 injured have been received at hospitals in the last 24 hours, and many victims are still said to be lying under rubble and on roads where ambulances cannot reach them.
