It was around 22.30 on Saturday that an alarm came in about two cars colliding on county road 107. The collision is said to have occurred according to witnesses because one of the cars came onto the wrong side of the road, the police write on their website.
The driver of the car believed to have caused the accident was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was arrested during the night on suspicion of causing another person's death and gross negligence in traffic.
There were three people in the oncoming car and the driver and one passenger died in the collision. They were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident. The third person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
