Billström left his post as Foreign Minister in September 2024. Since then, he has started a limited company in his own name where he, among other things, offers lectures on geopolitics.

A standard lecture costs 75,000 kronor. Billström has not yet submitted any annual report. VAT payments for the second quarter of this year correspond to revenues of over 600,000 kronor, according to Expressen.

Despite this, the former Foreign Minister has applied for and received full severance pay of 156,000 kronor per month without making any deductions.

According to the rules, former ministers must report new income, but since Billström has not taken out any salary, he does not need to make deductions for the income in the company.

"I have had a transition year and have followed the rules that exist. And it is true that I have held a number of lectures, even though my main task has been to write my book. Since my company is under construction, I have not taken out any salary, therefore it has not been relevant with deductions", Billström writes in a comment to Expressen.
