Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to blackmail Michael Schumacher's family.
The men, a father and son, contacted representatives of the Formula 1 legend's family and claimed to have material that the family would not want to be made public, writes the prosecutor in the German city of Wuppertal in a statement.
"To stop the files from being published online, the suspects demanded a payment of several million (euros)", writes the prosecutor.
Michael Schumacher, seven-time F1 World Champion, has not been seen in public since he suffered a serious head injury after a skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013. The 55-year-old's condition is unknown.
