The problem is due to ice formation on the contact wire in Laxå – which means that trains cannot stop there for boarding and disembarking passengers.
Many trains are affected by the problems in Laxå, since it is located midway between Stockholm and Göteborg, according to the Swedish Transport Administration's press chief Bengt Olsson – who says that the authority has been working on the problem since 11 am on Wednesday.
The contact wires around Laxå are part of the problem. They have gotten a lot of ice crystals on them due to the weather change, says Olsson and adds that it caused the traffic to come to a standstill.
Now we have agreed with the railway companies to close the traffic past Laxå for the rest of the traffic day to be able to handle the ice crystals on the contact wire. We will get started again at 05 am tomorrow morning.
According to SVT News Örebro, SJ has announced that they will run regular shuttle traffic between Skövde C and Hallsberg, via Laxå and Töreboda, for the rest of the day.
