The injury situation for the second boy is still serious, says prosecutor Caroline Carlquist to TT at lunchtime on Thursday.

Five young people have been arrested, suspected of attempted murder. In one of the cases, the crime classification has now been changed to murder.

The suspects are between 15 and 20 years old, of which three are under 18. All are from Malmö.

These people were present at the shooting, says Carlquist.

It is currently not investigated who may have done what in connection with the shooting.

They have provided information that does not match each other.

Johan Sjöström, one of the suspects' defense attorneys, says that his client denies the crime.

There will be new interrogations tomorrow and then the prosecutor will make a decision on whether my client should be detained or released, he says.

Sjöström expects his client to be released.

He is so young, just turned 16, and I think the evidence is so weak that it won't hold for detention. He claims he has no part in this.

The alarm about the shooting came in to the police just before 11 pm on New Year's Eve and a large police operation was ongoing for several hours.

The shooting took place in a stairwell in the Rosengård district of Malmö.
