Three men are suspected of crimes after a fireworks accident with fatal outcome in Odense, Denmark, at midnight on New Year's Eve.
A 24-year-old man lost his life in connection with the ignition of a firework that was likely homemade.
It exploded right in his face. He got very serious head injuries. It was really violent, said Morten Schultz, chief physician in Odense, to Danish TV2 on New Year's Day.
The other three men are also between 20 and 30 years old and are suspected of equivalent manslaughter, as they are believed to have been involved in acquiring or manufacturing the charge. The police on Funen estimate that it was a particularly powerful device.
