It was on August 7 last year that a man in his 20s was shot dead inside a shopping center in Sätra centrum.

According to the district court, the murder cannot be described as anything other than a brutal execution, says presiding judge Fredrik Nydén, in a press release from Södertörn District Court.

According to the district court, it is clear that the perpetrator chased the victim through the shopping center and fired several shots at him. The victim was then shot at close range with multiple shots.

The perpetrator, who was 16 years old at the time, is sentenced to prison for seven years and ten months for murder. The perpetrator is not sentenced to closed youth care, where the maximum sentence is four years.

According to the district court, the sentence would have been life imprisonment if he had been over 18 years old. The sentence is set at 32 years in prison.

The fact that the sentence has become so high is due, among other things, to the legislative change that took place in the summer of 2023. Shootings in gang environments are now considered a particularly aggravating circumstance and should lead to a significant increase in the sentence, says Fredrik Nydén in the press release.

Two people, who were over 18 years old at the time of the incident, are sentenced to prison for 17 years and ten months and 12 years, respectively, for aiding and abetting murder.

Four other people were charged with involvement in the murder, but they are acquitted of those charges.
