The Norwegian government's proposal for a tourist tax receives trade union support.
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, which is the largest union in the Norwegian LO, gives a thumbs up in a consultation response and highlights that it can have a positive effect on both the tourism industry and the affected areas.
The idea is that the tourist tax should be voluntary for municipalities to introduce and should be levied on overnight stays with a maximum ceiling of five percent.
