The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning for sudden ice slicks from Charlottenberg in Värmland in the south to Storuman in Västerbotten in the north.
The undercooled rain freezes as soon as it lands, whether it's on a bicycle saddle, on the street, a car window, or trees, says Therese Fougman, meteorologist at SMHI.
It's a large precipitation area with mild weather that's causing trouble. Those who despite the weather must venture out on the roads are urged to drive cautiously and adjust their speed to the road conditions.
Just because you have good tires on your car doesn't mean that all other road users do. The risk is that you'll get stuck somewhere, says Therese Fougman.
In the more southerly parts of the country, cloudy weather with several plus degrees is expected on Saturday. North of the precipitation area, it's mainly snowfall.
It's properly cold with 10 to 15 minus degrees, locally even 20, says Therese Fougman.
