The Swedish Academy's Nordic prize for 2025 is awarded to the Danish poet and essayist Søren Ulrik Thomsen. With a prize amount of 400,000 kronor, it is the Academy's second-largest prize, after the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Thomsen was one of the most influential voices in 1980s neo-modernist Danish poetry. He made his debut in 1981 with the poetry collection "City slang", and his latest work, the essay book "Store Kongensgade 23", was published in 2021.
The Swedish Academy's Nordic prize has been awarded since 1986 and is intended for someone in the Nordic countries who has made significant contributions in one of the Academy's areas of operation or interest.
