Today's big loser was Husqvarna, as the manufacturer of garden products warned of profits on Monday evening. The stock fell 6.0 percent.

The discount store Rusta initially plummeted after releasing a quarterly report with lower profits. But the stock recovered and at the close, it had risen 0.6 percent.

Among the heavyweights in the OMXS30 list, the cloud service company Sinch fell the most, down 2.3 percent. At the other end, the appliance manufacturer Electrolux rose 2.9 percent.

In the morning, Statistics Sweden released unexpectedly weak Swedish GDP figures. The krona weakened against both the dollar and the euro; one dollar cost 10.99 kronor at the close, and one euro 11.54 kronor.

Indices on the London and Paris stock exchanges both rose by around 1 percent, while the DAX index in Frankfurt closed almost unchanged.
