Skåne's auction house has sold a Chinese vase from an estate in Helsingborg for over a million - a staggering 1,001,599 kronor, reports Sydsvenskan / Helsingborgs Dagblad.
Thanks to the vase being put up on a web-based auction site, it received a multitude of bids, a total of 257.
It was a lot of Chinese people who participated in the bidding and it was a Chinese man who won, says Per Karlsson, appraiser at Skåne's auction house to Sydsvenskan.
Originally, the 30-centimeter-high and three-kilogram Kong vase was valued at 5,000 kronor, a fraction of the final price.
It's a tough market, it's basically only the Chinese who know what these vases are worth. But 5,000 might have been a bit low, says Per Karlsson.
This is, however, not the first time Skåne's auction house has gotten their hands on a Chinese vase. In 2021, they sold a vase that was then valued at 600 kronor. The final price? 280,000 kronor.
