The French extreme right-wing party National Front's founder Jean-Marie Le Pen's grave has been desecrated, and the grave cross that adorns the grave has been crushed.
"Respect for the dead is what distinguishes a civilization from barbarism", writes France's right-wing politician and interior minister Bruno Retailleau about the vandalism.
Jean-Marie Le Pen made politics out of racist and anti-Semitic statements. He died in January, 96 years old, but as early as 2011, he was forced out of the party by his daughter Marine Le Pen.
Le Pen's family grave is located in La Trinité-sur-Mer in Brittany.
