We see a connection to the criminal environment in Region South, says Jimmy Modin, press spokesperson for the police.
The shooting that led to a man in his 30s losing his life was carried out early on Tuesday evening at Västra station square, right next to Lund's police station. The police were quickly on the scene and apprehended a 17-year-old suspect, as he was on his way down the stairs to a pedestrian tunnel under the station. He has since been detained.
There are witness statements that point to two people fleeing the scene in connection with the actual shooting, and we believe that one of these two individuals is the 17-year-old who is being detained, says Modin to TT.
We have questioned him and he denies the crime, says prosecutor Pernilla Nilsson to P4 Malmöhus about the 17-year-old.
The person who fled the scene is someone the police want to get in touch with, says Modin.
A large number of people were in the area and many of them have been heard as witnesses. Additionally, there are many surveillance cameras at the scene.
Later in the evening, a man in his 20s was seriously stabbed in Lund, and later a 26-year-old man was arrested as a suspect for attempted murder. The police currently see no connection between the incidents.
