The Polhem Museum in Stjärnsund, Hedemora, is closing after more than 50 years. Contributions from, among others, Hedemora Municipality are not enough. There are no economic prerequisites for operating the business, according to Sveriges Radio P4 Dalarna.

We have too high operating and insurance costs. We have many properties and must rethink to move forward, says Emilia Öster, CEO of the Husbyringen Foundation, which owns the Polhem Museum.

Now, the museum building itself will be sold, and the artifacts will be distributed among, among others, the Technical Museum and Stjärnsund's Visitor Center.

Christopher Polhem (1661–1751) is sometimes called the father of Swedish mechanics and founded Stjärnsund's works in Dalarna in 1699.
