Sickan has a plan – again. The recording is in progress of the next Jönssonligan movie. Now Sickan is being thoroughly duped by his archenemy. Now it's time for revenge and a showdown, says Robert Gustafsson.

Right in the shadow of the subway tracks in an unassuming Stockholm suburb, scenes from the new "Jönssonligan and Wall Enberg" are being filmed. Here, the set designers have built up Jönssonligan's club premises, which in the film is hidden in a laundry.

Between takes, Robert Gustafsson explains that Sickan in the new film will once and for all settle with the arch-villain Wall Enberg (Johan Rabaeus), who has a larger role than usual.

Jönssonligan still has a lot of money from the coup in the previous film, but it's money they can't "launder" and which is therefore worthless.

Even though we have a laundry as a front, exclaims Anders Jansson, the gang's Harry, and laughs.

"Difficult and nervous"

"Jönssonligan is back" is the fourth version of the "adult" Jönssonligan that has been made. Robert Gustafsson admits that it was uncertain how the audience would receive the film when it premiered in July.

He wanted to find a new "Sickan" for our time, but still have the connection to the old films from the 1980s where his mentor Gösta Ekman played the master thief.

With the first film, it was difficult and nervous. Where should we position ourselves? How much should be new and how much old, but this time it's just fun to find the mix between then and now.

The first film was seen by 250,000 cinema visitors, a success in today's Swedish film climate.

We feel accepted, loved. You always hear the negative otherwise. But it hasn't been that way this time, on the contrary, says Robert Gustafsson.

Feels freer

Now the gang has reunited. In addition to Robert Gustafsson and Anders Jansson, also Jonas Karlsson as Vanheden and Jennie Silfverhjelm as Doris.

This time, we don't need a honeymoon to find each other, the tone or the universe that characterizes our Jönssonligan. We already have one film behind us and that gives us the opportunity to refine our characters and relationships, to be able to draw the brushstrokes even further, explains Jennie Silfverhjelm

Director Eddie Åhgren also thinks that he feels freer with the second film, when the audience has accepted the "new" gang, you can take a few more liberties without so many nods to the previous films.

Now we want to continue based on our fantastic gang. Our gang is so good together.

"Jönssonligan and Wall Enberg" will premiere in July 2026.
