The 37-year-old serial rapist, who was convicted in 2022 for a long series of rapes and sexual assaults, was conditionally released in March this year after serving two-thirds of his sentence. He was arrested again on Tuesday and is now detained on probable cause suspected of a new rape.
But even before the Nytorgsman is suspected of committing the new crime, he broke the rules, according to documents from the Prison and Probation Service that YA has taken part of.
Prior to his release, a decision was made that he was not allowed to be outdoors at night, between 9 pm and 7 am, and he was fitted with an ankle monitor.
On two occasions, the police had to make a decision to temporarily detain the man, as the signals from the ankle monitor had stopped. Both times, he claimed to have slept at home and not charged the electronic equipment. However, he was never detained as he was found by the police on both occasions.
The Prison and Probation Service had also had problems reaching the man on several occasions, as he did not answer when they called.
The ankle monitor surveillance was originally supposed to end on September 6, but was extended due to the misconduct.
Even on Tuesday evening, the same evening he was arrested by the police, the signals from the ankle monitor stopped, and he could no longer be contacted by phone.
Then, the Prison and Probation Service decided that he should be temporarily detained with immediate effect – but by then, he had already been arrested.
