The number of academics who have been unemployed for more than half a year has increased by 40 percent, and those who have been unemployed for more than a year have increased by 8 percent compared to last year, according to new figures from the Academics' pension fund.
On the other hand, the total number of unemployed academics decreased slightly in April compared to March, but despite this, the percentage of unemployed academics has increased by 0.5 percentage points to 2 percent over the past year.
- This spring, unemployment has developed in a different way than we are used to, normally it decreases after the turn of the year, and this year it has come later. But a lasting decrease in unemployment always means that the number of unemployed always increases during the summer, says Alexandra Oljans Ahlin, communications officer at the Academics' pension fund in a press release.
