The man and woman from Mjölby have been reported missing since Monday. The police suspect that they went into the forest to pick mushrooms as early as Friday. Then, the couple's car was found parked a few kilometers east of Boxholm in Östergötland.

In recent days, a larger search area has been cordoned off and the police have worked with both dog patrols and drones. Even the Home Guard, the organization Missing People, and a hundred volunteers have participated in the search effort, according to Corren.

Earlier on Wednesday, the police initiated a preliminary investigation into kidnapping, although without concrete suspicions of a crime.

It's because we need to be able to bring out our toolbox. In case we need to take other investigative technical measures. There is no concrete suspicion of a crime at present, said the police's press spokesperson Olle Älveroth.
