There is so much that is decided in preschool. Previous governments and above all this government have prioritized everything but preschool, says the Left Party's party leader Nooshi Dadgostar.
Previously, the Left Party has been skeptical of having fixed criteria for the size of children's groups. Now, however, the party is proposing binding maximum limits and criteria for how many adults per child there should be.
"Smaller children's groups"
Today, we are presenting a proposal: smaller children's groups, more staff and education for childcare workers, says Dadgostar at a press conference before the speech.
According to the proposal, there should be a maximum of twelve children in groups with children under three years old and a maximum of fifteen children in groups with children over three years old.
When it comes to adults, the requirement should be a maximum of three children per adult for the younger children and a maximum of five children per adult in the older age group.
Today, quite high demands are placed on preschool. But there is a lack of so many resources that it is not serious and credible that the demands can be met. Over fifty percent of children's groups are larger than the National Agency for Education recommends, says Dadgostar.
The party also wants to see a childcare worker boost, similar to the so-called elderly care boost.
"The government chooses to turn a blind eye"
In her summer speech, held in Bältesspännarparken in Gothenburg, Dadgostar also directed harsh criticism at the government's stance in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Today's leaders in the Swedish government choose to turn a blind eye to the most serious crimes against humanity. Thousands of children have died in Palestine. It is unbearable. The killing must stop, says Dadgostar.
Dadgostar wants, among other things, to see a stopped military cooperation with Israel, the introduction of economic sanctions, and the termination of the EU's trade agreement with Israel.
