Jasper received a cancer diagnosis in December 2024 and died on February 23, confirms his family in a statement.
The classically trained Chris Jasper joined in 1973, along with Ernie and Marvin Isley, what was originally a trio of brothers. The Isley Brothers then became a six-man band with a focus on r'n'b and funk. His influence on songwriting and arrangements is clear on songs like "For the love of you", "Between the sheets" and "Fight the power".
Chris Jasper also had a solo career, where he, among other things, released the hit song "Superbad". In 1992, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame along with the other band members of The Isley Brothers.
