The reason is the lack of payment of royalties to authors.
”The number of payment orders against Hoi has increased and therefore the Swedish Writers' Association now warns against entering into agreements with the publisher. An agreement under which the author is to pay for part of the publication costs is considered by the Writers' Association as risky to enter into when the publisher has liquidity problems”, the Writers' Association writes in a press release.
The publisher's CEO Lars Rambe tells SVT that the warning is "unfortunate".
Hoi publishing offers writers the opportunity to publish their books and get help with editing and marketing in exchange for payment. In April, the Danish Writers' Association issued a warning to its members against entering into agreements with Hoi Publishing's Danish company.
