Minister for Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD) reacts strongly to the reports of women who have had their uteruses unnecessarily removed.
"A great suffering, of course, and a terrible news to hear for those affected", she says in a written comment.
Ankarberg Johansson welcomes the opening of a special patient hotline and the filing of a Lex Maria report.
"Akademiska Hospital says they have failed in quality assurance of their care. It's good that Akademiska Hospital takes the incident seriously and takes necessary measures to both get to the bottom of what happened and ensure it doesn't happen again", she writes.
Barbro Sjölander, chair of the patient organization Network for Gynecological Cancer, also reacts strongly.
It's terrible. This kind of thing must not happen, she says to Expressen.
