Efter criticism, the Film Institute is backing down and abolishing the rule that debutante actors cannot receive a Golden Beetle, writes Dagens Nyheter.
The change in the rulebook sparked debate ahead of this year's gala, where the three unestablished actors in the center of the storyline in the film "Paradise Burns" could not be considered for the film award since they were amateurs.
Instead, the producer of "Paradise Burns", Nima Yousefi, awarded the prize for best film to the three actors to share.
After the gala, the chairman of the jury, Anna Carlsson, explained that the rulebook would be evaluated.
In a press release that Dagens Nyheter has taken part of, the Film Institute now writes that the requirement that an actor must have made a previous performance to be eligible for a nomination is being removed.
