The Left Party has reported Education Minister Mats Persson (L) to the Constitutional Committee for statements he made regarding student protests against the Gaza War, writes TV4 News.

"The Constitutional Committee should investigate whether the Minister, through his actions and statements, has exerted political pressure and expectations on universities regarding the collaborations they choose to have, which could be perceived as an attempt to influence universities," writes the Left Party's Member of Parliament Lorena Delgado Varas in the report.

In the report, among other things, a statement to TT is mentioned, where researchers at Lund University who supported student protests related to the war in Gaza "should be ashamed" and that "trust and confidence in academia will take a hit" from it.

Note: In an earlier version of the article, Mats Persson had the wrong title.
