On Thursday, the Climate Policy Council will present its annual report on the government's climate policy. However, Climate Minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L) will not be attending the presentation, reports DN.
This is the first time a climate minister has declined to participate when the review is presented. Instead, State Secretary Daniel Westlén will attend the Climate Policy Council's seminar on Thursday.
According to DN, the climate minister was initially listed as a participant in an earlier announcement about the event, but her name has now been removed. According to Romina Pourmokhtari's press secretary Niki Westerberg, this is about doing things the same way as when the finance minister receives the Financial Policy Council's report.
The climate minister receives the report in advance according to the same principle, says Niki Westerberg to TT.
So, has that principle changed since last year?
Yes.
Last year's review criticized the government's climate action plan for not meeting the climate goals for 2030 or 2045 – and it was even called misleading and lacking in substance.
