The target was, according to the verdict, a man in his 20s who is linked to a criminal network in Farsta, southern Stockholm. He was inside the courthouse on April 24 last year, and the teenagers are believed to have waited for him to come out.
According to the verdict, the target reacted to the teenagers, now 18 and 16 years old, and their nervous behavior outside the courthouse, whereupon he contacted a person who in turn contacted the police and guards.
Both teenagers could then be arrested outside the courthouse. The 16-year-old was carrying a loaded pistol at the time.
Youth Care
"If the two youths had not been arrested by the police outside the district court, the risk would have been great that they would have shot the intended victim; in that case, through a pure execution", the court writes in the press release.
The 16-year-old who was arrested with the weapon is now sentenced to closed youth care for one year and three months for gross weapons offense and preparation for murder. He will also receive three months of closed youth care for having previously mismanaged his sentence, according to the district court in a press release.
The 18-year-old is sentenced to closed youth care for one year and eight months for the same crime.
From Växjö
The boys are from Växjö and are both linked to a criminal network in the city.
Four other individuals between 21 and 26 years old are also sentenced. According to the court, they planned the murder together with the two teenagers, picked up the 16-year-old from a HVB home, and handled the weapon. They receive imprisonment for six years and seven months.
The target himself has been detained since the beginning of October, suspected of having hired a 15-year-old to murder a gang leader on Stureplan in central Stockholm.
The chief of Attunda district court, lagman Anders Dereborg, says that the incident has affected the court.
It is, of course, an event that has affected us in our security work and cooperation with the police, when it comes to protection in and around the district court. But we also had a comprehensive security arrangement before this, which one can conclude contributed to it not becoming worse than it did.
