Taiwan's Defense Department is closely monitoring Chinese test launches of robots in Inner Mongolia, over 160 miles from the island. The Air Force has also increased its readiness, the Defense Department announced.
According to Taiwan's military news agency, the Defense Department has detected Chinese test launches in several rounds, without providing further details.
It is unclear whether the test launches are related to China's harassment of Taiwan. For example, 66 Chinese fighter jets were detected around Taiwan within a day last week, a record high for this year. At the same time, several Chinese coastguard vessels entered Taiwanese waters.
China views the self-governing democratic Taiwan as part of its own territory and has not ruled out the use of force to take control of the island nation.
