During the Olympic Games a few weeks ago, there were no medals for the Swedes. But at the sprint World Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, it's going much better.
Within the span of ten minutes, Sweden had secured double World Championship medals.
First, Melina Andersson snatched a bronze on K1 1000 meters, after a really strong finish. And shortly thereafter, it was time for another medal, this time on the men's side.
The duo Martin Nathell and Joakim Lindberg came in second and snatched the silver in the final on K2 1000 m. The Swedes were high up throughout the entire race and could secure the second medal in a relatively comfortable manner.
Thus, the first final day was at least successful from a Swedish perspective, and already tomorrow there are new opportunities for medals. Among other things, Melina Andersson will be back in action, this time on K1 5000 meters where she is considered to have good chances of another medal.
