During the recording, one participant has passed away in what appears to be a sudden illness. It happened during the day and is a very tragic and sad event. Our thoughts are currently with the relatives, says Karin Nyman, HR manager and communications director at TV4 to TT.
Norwegian police tell TT that the alarm came in at 2 pm and that it concerns a Swedish man in his 50s who has died of cardiac arrest. According to the police, the incident occurred near Lake Kobbvatnet in Sørfold municipality, about nine miles south of Mount Stetind. Mount Stetind is located about ten miles south of Narvik in northern Norway.
When we arrived at the scene, CPR was already underway, but shortly afterwards, he was declared dead, says Lars Halvorsen, duty officer at Norwegian police, to TT.
The program "The Mountain" is currently being recorded in an area outside Narvik, and the host is rapper Petter Alexis Askergren.
"I'm shocked! This feels unreal, so sad," he writes on Instagram and says that his thoughts go to the relatives.
Recording started on Tuesday and was planned to last for two weeks, according to TV4. Karin Nyman says that no decision has yet been made about the remaining recording of "The Mountain".
The focus right now in this difficult moment is to take care of the relatives, participants, and employees and ensure that everyone gets the support they need. All other decisions will be made later, she says.
Mount Stetind is a 1,392-meter-high mountain that was voted Norway's national mountain in a radio poll.
