From and including next Monday, a Swedish police officer will be stationed permanently in Copenhagen, reports P4 Malmöhus.
We hope that it will be faster to implement various measures, to obtain information, to be able to assist each other in different operations and investigations, says the police's press spokesperson Nils Norling to the channel.
A Danish police officer has already started working at the police station in Malmö. Another Danish police officer will be placed at the police's national operational unit in Stockholm.
Danish and Swedish gangs do not work within borders. Therefore, it is important that we from the police side also work together, has Torben Svarrer, unit manager at Denmark's national unit against special criminality, previously said to TT.
Both Norling and Svarrer have stated that the expanded cooperation has been planned for a longer time, but that the timing could not have been better.
Recently, several Swedish citizens have been involved in violent crimes in Denmark. So far in August, six Swedish citizens have been arrested in the country, including several minors. They are suspected of everything from attempted murder to possession of hand grenades.
