The Swedish model Kerstin "Kiki" Håkansson, who won the first edition of the beauty pageant Miss World 1951 in London, has died. Håkansson became 95 years old and fell asleep in her home in California on Monday, writes the organization behind the competition on Instagram.
Son Chris Andersen describes Håkansson as "genuine, considerate, loving and funny".
"She had a fantastic sense of humor and was quick-witted, with a big heart", he says in a statement.
Other Swedish women who have won Miss World are May-Louise Flodin (1952) and Mary Stävin (1977).
