A person in Varberg municipality is suspected of having been abused by their personal assistant for many years, local media report.

It was in June that the municipality made a home visit to the person, who had lived with a relative and a personal assistant for over 30 years. The inspection was carried out after the relative suddenly passed away.

In the municipality's report, it emerges that the assistant allegedly forced medication down the patient's throat in an "inhuman way" and gave the patient medication rectally in a way that risked harming the person. Furthermore, the patient is said to have received four times the prescribed dose of sedatives – even on occasions when it was not necessary.

In its report, the municipality writes that they suspect the patient has suffered "both psychological and physical harm", writes Hallands Nyheter.

Varberg municipality has now made a report according to Lex Sarah, reports P4 Halland.
