In September last year, a multi-family house in central Arvika burned down for the second time in a short period.
Suspicions that the fire was arson arose when flammable liquids were found in the house. A witness had also seen a person with burn-damaged clothes leaving the house by car, and a driver's license belonging to a 50-year-old man was found near the property.
On the same day, the man sought medical attention for severe burns and spent several weeks in a burn unit afterwards.
Two more men are suspected of arson. One of them is a 40-year-old man – the property owner who is suspected of instigating the crime.
Initially, both the property owner and the 50-year-old man denied any involvement, but the latter later changed his story and claims to have been hired to perform a service, but not for payment.
