The result emerges in an annual survey of nearly 4,700 CEOs, including 102 Swedish ones, from 109 countries around the world.
Globally, a third of the CEOs believe that AI has contributed to increasing the company's revenue and profitability over the past year. In Sweden, the level is only around 15 percent.
"Sweden continues to fall behind in AI development, which is deeply concerning. We are still missing out on major benefits that AI can offer," says Sofia Götmar-Blomstedt, CEO of PwC Sweden in a press release.
However, when it comes to economic future prospects, the outlook is much brighter. Since last year, confidence in an improved economy has increased dramatically among Swedish business leaders, from 31 percent last year to 65 percent now. Globally, the same figure was 58 percent this year.
"Despite living in turbulent times, many business leaders are looking positively towards the future," says Sofia Götmar-Blomstedt.
