Sundling won the sprint qualification overwhelmingly and the 29-year-old continued to dominate the competition throughout.
In the final, the reigning World Championship and Olympic Games champion faced off against Swedish stars: Emma Ribom, Linn Svahn, Maja Dahlqvist, Moa Lundgren, and Johanna Hagström – but none could match Sundling, who took control from the start and maintained it all the way to the finish line.
I'm grateful to be here at the premiere, because it's not every time I've been, so I'm enjoying and looking forward to tomorrow, says Sundling in SVT.
After her victory, she praised both her skis and the cross-country skiing tracks.
I feel energetic, above all, and I have good skis, so big praise to the waxers. And the tracks here in Bruksvallarna are fine, says Sundling.
She won ahead of closest pursuers Maja Dahlqvist and Johanna Hagström, beating them by over two seconds.
The competitions in Bruksvallarna continue on Saturday with 10 kilometers classical and on Sunday with 10 kilometers freestyle on the program, before the season gets underway in earnest next weekend with the World Cup premiere in Finnish Ruka.
