Last year, subsidy fraud and errors amounting to around ten million kronor were discovered when the Customs Agency and the Social Insurance Agency conducted joint controls at Arlanda. Now, the two authorities are expanding their cooperation.
"Our joint control efforts at the border clearly show how we can achieve very good results with small efforts," says Nils Öberg, the General Director of the Social Insurance Agency, in a press release.
The controls at Arlanda were carried out continuously and with two larger efforts. These led to repayment claims of over 4.2 million kronor and prevented incorrect payments of around 5.5 million kronor. This concerned passengers who, among other things, had received sickness benefits, parental benefits, and activity compensation on incorrect grounds.
